Hi, I'm Emma
I’m from Dublin, Ireland.
I’m super passionate about fitness and wellness, and I’m here to help you become the most BAD-ASS version of yourself possible. I’m a proud Irish girl and I’ve had to use every ounce of that fighting spirit to get to my current position in life.
I was blessed to grow up in a loving and supportive environment and I’ll always be grateful for that roll of the dice.
I lived with my Mum, Dad, two Brothers, and an occasional crazy dog around the house. I've lived in a number of countries around the world, and now that I have found a slice of Ireland that puts my mind and body at ease, it’s time to focus on the next chapter of my life.
Well Let Me Tell You…
First, let’s jump way back to the start so we can pinpoint the moment that started my fitness journey.
My first serious “career job” after leaving school was a job in the Bank of Ireland. I ended up working with deceased customer accounts, and believe me, that job was about as exciting as it sounds.
That position in the bank really got to me after about a year and I needed to take a leave of absence to relieve some of the stress and anxiety that had been building over the previous Twelve months.
It was during this job that I had my first meeting with the horrendous world of panic attacks. Damn I hate anxiety. That feeling is bad enough all by itself, but when it manifests itself into a panic attack… Jesus it’s horrible.
I feel for anyone that suffers with this disorder. But never feel helpless, there are ways to combat this disorder, and I suppose in a weird way I’m grateful because it’s the reason I am where I am today.
It wasn’t solely down to the job when I began to suffer from anxiety. I was also spending way too much time socialising and not enough time looking after my mind and body. This was a bad mistake but when you’re in your 20’s it’s easy to get caught up in the cycle of "work-drink-friends-repeat".
As the socialising and the pressure of being in a job that did nothing for me in terms of fulfilment increased, I began to look for a way out of my current nightmare. I couldn’t continue dreading every Monday morning and living just for that “Friday feeling” for one more moment. It was slowly killing me.
After searching around for jobs I could potentially interview for, I managed to find a small Pilates studio that was close to where I lived in Dublin. I got in touch with the owner and after a couple of conversations I had formulated a new plan :).
She was going to train me to become a Pilates instructor, and then give me a job teaching classes part-time in her studio.
Happy days I thought, finally I’m doing something for myself. Something that will add to my life, something that will make me a better person. If we aren't trying to improve and grow as a person we might as well be going backwards in my eyes. It’s important to have goals for ourselves.
Striving to become a better person is key in life! When you are at your peak, you get to give the best version of yourself back to the people that are around you. It’s a win win situation for everyone in my book.
I went on to spend 10 months working in this studio and passed my exams to become a qualified Pilates instructor in the process. I met some amazing people while I was there, but one of the clients… My god, what a nice woman :).
In fact this woman (Caroline) ended up having such a massive impact on my life that the offline classes I still run today in Dublin, probably wouldn’t even exist had she not come into my life at that time.
I always enjoyed working with the clients in the studio, and I got a real kick out of seeing them come back week after week and really enjoy the classes.
I was making a real difference in people's lives. But I wanted to go bigger. I wanted to positively impact the lives of more people and also keep growing as a woman myself.
The fitness industry had given me a real mental and physical boost at that time in my life and I started to get control of my anxiety and panic disorder as a result. As I became more confident as a person, the next moment in my life couldn't have come at a better time.
Caroline (my Pilates client) from the studio told me she had seen an ad in the Sunday paper about exercising on mini trampolines and once she saw it, I immediately came to mind.
Within minutes of being told about this company from the UK that was running choreographed fitness classes on mini-trampolines… I was sold.
I rang the phone number I was given and had myself booked into a course to become an instructor within two weeks. I had to travel to the UK to participate in the course and get my qualification, (I was super nervous about this, I’d never been on a plane on my own before) but once I had my qualification I would be the first person to launch the amazing Boogie Bounce in Ireland.
I could see this opportunity being huge for me.
My own fitness business, that I could control from the top down…. Amazing!
My dream was to have my own fitness business that genuinely helped women achieve their own dreams.
I knew that helping people get in shape, stay in shape, and have fun along the way was the way forward. When you are mentally and physically in peak condition, nothing can stop you from achieving whatever you put your mind too.
Also, I’ve never been a fan of boring workouts. Fitness doesn’t have to be boring. My god! There’s nothing worse than a boring fitness routine. It’s soul destroying.
Getting fit and healthy should be fun. It’s all about the journey towards your goals, it’s not about arriving at the destination, and when it comes to fitness and health, this couldn't be more true.
Enjoy your meals, have fun with the workouts, and live life while you push towards your goals and dreams. What’s the point if you aren’t having fun?? Life is supposed to be fun. We all have ups and downs but our goal should be to have way more ups. If you can do that, you're already winning in my book 🙂
So make sure you’re enjoying the ride along the way 🙂 It’s crucial!
My Boogie Bounce story is quite a long one (and far from over), but a quick highlight reel would include:
I love Boogie Bounce
And it will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve become very good friends with both of the owners of the company and I will always promote the system to women who want to get in shape.
The benefits of bouncing to pumping music with a group of motivated ladies can’t be underestimated… It’s unreal.
The only problem is I want to keep growing as a person and reach as many lives as possible.
Bikini Competitions
I can always grow as a woman by taking on new challenges like Bikini competitions, which by the way, is probably the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my professional life…
But I did it, and won trophies too 🙂
But I want to have a positive impact on millions of women's lives, that’s my goal...
I’m limited to what I can do with my offline activities, I can’t split myself in two, and when I teach for more than 10 hours per week, over time my body begins to feel it.
If I only had to teach, happy days, but it’s everything else that goes into running my offline business means I regularly spend 10 hours a day, seven days a week working on my business.
I love what I do. I’m so lucky that fitness is my life. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
But I’m always looking at ways that I can ramp up the amount of women that I can help.
Working smarter is vital for me these days. Spending your energy on something once, and then having the ability to package that so it can be enjoyed and leveraged by people over and over (even while I sleep) has never sounded better to me.
That’s Why I Launched Sister Squad
The Sister Squad is way more than just another cute frilly fitness brand. It’s an entire lifestyle!
It’s my vehicle to make a real impact on the entire female population of this planet and every ounce of my industry experience has gone into this system.
My plan is to take the Sister Squad global. The movement is underway and we want any woman that is serious about improving the quality of their lives to join us.
As the founder of the Sister Squad, I’m here to serve you. But the Sister squad is not about me. It’s about the community.
They say you are the average of your 5 closest friends, well if you are the average of five Squad Sisters… You’re essentially unstoppable. No joke!
That’s the goal here, to arm you with all the skills needed to positively impact your own life and those closest to you.
We do that by providing awesome free and paid resources that you can use to improve every aspect of your life, and by bringing women together that share a common goal in life.
We’re in this to make a real difference.
I’ve experienced first hand the impact of fitness and wellness in my life, and too not share that with the world, well, that would be criminal.
